Women

their
Bodies
A common problem for women during, and after menopause is vaginal dryness. However, this issue can occur at anytime in a woman’s life. Another known cause of this disorder, is rapid hormonal changes during the menstrual cycle. Most vaginal lubrication consists of clear fluid that seeps through the walls of the blood vessels encircling the vagina. When you’re sexually aroused, more blood flows to your pelvic organs, creating more lubricating vaginal fluid. But the hormonal changes of menopause, childbirth and breast-feeding may disrupt this process. As you age the amount and consistency of this moisture is widely affected. Common symptoms of this condition is stinging, and vaginal itching around the vaginal opening. The lower cavity wall of the vagina, can also be affected, so without a thin layer of moisture coating for the vaginal wall lining, sexual intercourse can be very painful, and sometimes even cause bleeding.
Women’s bodies naturally produce this lubrication, for the sole purpose of sexual intercourse. The fluid reduces friction during love making. The fluid provides a barrier between the “foreign” object and the lining of their vaginal wall. Located below the vaginal opening, the introitus as it is call, are the Bartholin‘s glands located to the left and right of it. They too, secrete mucus in order to started the lubrication secretions in the vaginal cavity. When you have inadvertently irritated this area during or after sex, or even when wiping after menstrual periods; apply a warm compress cloth immediately. Often without the aid of medications, you can take care of the irritation this way before it gets any worse. If the dryness increases seek the attention of your physician. They can provide you with the necessary medical alternatives.
